Campanile Bayeux

Hotel campanile Bayeux was an ideal location for a motorcycle tour of Normandy pretty easy to find just off the roundabout and easy 10 minute walk into Bayeux city which is a lovely place to walk around Our room was ideal not a great size but good bathroom bed not the not the most comfortable , plenty of parking Breakfast was plentiful and was very good the usual continental things we also eat there a couple of evenings not a big choice on the menu and if I’m going to be critical it could have been a bit hotter Staff were really helpful and all very nice I would recommend this hotel as a good central base for exploring the area.

Tricky to access even with a good sat-nav. It is rather hidden away on an industrial estate. Enough off road parking. Bedroom medium sized and adequate for an over-night stay. Regrettably it was not in the best of condition, in bedroom No. 0011 the lid to the kettle was broken, shower drain was blocked, etc.. Bathroom small, soap etc screwed to the walls, it did have a large mirror over the shelf. Very good breakfast, a highlight of the day. Unable to have dinner at this hotel only half restaurant in use, lack of staff? shortage of food?

Our family enjoyed our stay and found the accommodations & breakfast to be reasonable for the price. Our rooms were on the backside of the building and my teens enjoyed seeing the cows in the backyard and horses at the vet & equine center next door to the hotel all from right outside our room. The hotel is an easy walk into the downtown of Bayeux. There is an EV charging station at the hotel but you need to scan a QR code to use. Our phone was not working but hotel staff were very helpful in directing us to an EV charging station in town where we could use our credit card to charge our rental vehicle. The breakfast was fine and we found it had enough variety. For American tourists this lodging is more in line of what we would consider a motel. We did have working air conditioning controls in our room which is NOT the norm in France but we could not get it as low as we would have liked for sleeping. The beds themselves were our only complaint as they were incredibly firm and not very comfortable. Overall for the price and location, this was a good stay and a handy spot for exploring other parts of Normandy.

Our room was clean, with comfy beds, but very small. Better than Ibis Budget, but sub TraveLodge, and pricey considering there was no breakfast included. On the plus side it was easy to find, on the inner ring road; a quiet location, and only a 10 minute walk from the Cathedral, and Tapestry Museum. Friendly staff, and an excellent breafask buffet with plenty of choice. We also ate dinner there on our first night, and despite the limited menu were very impressed by the quality and presentation of the food.

The hotel is well situated just off the main road leading into Bayeux and within walking distance to the town centre, war museum and cemetery. Our room was positioned at the back of the hotel, offering lovely views of Bayeux cathedral and open fields, right next door to a large veterinary surgery. The room itself was quite small and although they do offer tea making facilities, it would have been nice to have proper cups instead of paper cups. The bathroom was small but adequate with toiletries provided in a dispenser. The restaurant is positioned in the main building right next to the reception area, we ordered beef and fries the meal was presented well, but the beef was so tough we struggled to chew it and was quite pricy at 27 euros per person. The alcoholic drinks were also quite expensive, I had the smallest measure of vodka I have ever seen and was charged 7 euros just for the vodka, without the bottle of cola to accompany it. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel, just a couple of very small complaints as previously mentioned.

We do like a Camponile as a stop over and this one doesn't disappoint. Good parking facilities and a well presented room. We stayed two nights and thought that the location was excellent for the tourist. After a long drive the day previously we fancied a walk around and leave the car in the car park. Everything we wanted was not a long walk, even up to the supermarket past the British cemetery. Cannot comment on breakfasts as we don't usually partake in breakfast. Ate there one evening in the restaurant and it was perfectly acceptable washed down with a carafe of Rose. Quiet room with no disturbances, good night's sleep. Would definitely return if visiting Bayeaux and its environs.

The positives: Free parking Walking distance to town and museums Tea and coffee making facilities (although only enough for 1 cup each) Shower gel provided Roll down shutters for security and privacy Window that opened Reasonably quiet location Sheets were clean Now the negatives: Very run down Carpet in room was filthy as was floor in dining room Only 2 small towels provided making it impossible for 2 people to shower 2 very narrow, very hard single beds Strange food smell when we entered the room No safe Used by coach tours (says it all really) Breakfast room nowhere near big enough when everyone from coach tour enters at once Only one coffee machine which only dispensed half a cup of coffee and caused a huge bottleneck Inferior quality of food at breakfast, e.g. watered down orange juice, very cheap, runny jam, doughy pain au chocolat Plates far too small meaning multiple visits to breakfast bar Overall, I wouldn't revisit and wouldn't recommend even for an overnight stay. The Ibis Budget would be a better option.

Please RUN away from this hotel. It was over priced for a very dirty room. Also, the staff continually tried to over charge us for the breakfast. I prepaid for it with my booking. They attempted to charge me again at check in (reminded them it was prepaid). Then at the arrival for breakfast they tried to charge me again. Finally, when I checked out of the hotel, they said that the price increased after I booked and they wanted to charge more than my prepaid amount. I did argue with the woman and she backed down. I feel like she was trying to scam me. Overall I would not recommend. There are a lot of places to stay in Bayeaux and this was over priced for a dirty scammy place.
